Backbone is an essay on structures and metaphors of war, mechanization, dehumanization. It reveals not a paralysis of "guilt" but a reaction (against horror) that asserts itself through command of language. The premise that Braidwood employs is related to the leftist strategy "which asserts that what people believe, and thus the way they will behave, can be changed by the very form of the way in which they are represented," a formalism expressed in the Soviet publication of the twenties, Novy Lef Lef.

被病人誉为“天下神刀”的刘海鹰，是在八十年代理想主义盛行时期成长起来的医学博士，九十年代中期在德国度过了职业生涯最重要的阶段，让他养成了严谨细致、精益求精的专业品格。在多年的行医经历中，刘海鹰常常自掏腰包救助家庭贫困的脊柱重症畸形病人。他知道这些人如果不手术，等着他们的将是器官功能衰竭或死亡。但长期资助，经济难以为继。后来他用痊愈病人及家属还有部分热心人士的捐助作为启动资金，成立了一个以他名字命名的脊柱健康公益基金会，依托他领导的医院科室团队，对中西部地区贫困家庭的患者展开医学救助。然而，日以继夜的高负荷工作，让这位医术精湛的好医生早已成为一名亟待被照顾的病人。同事们劝他要多多顾及家庭和身体，但他已经停不下“救死扶伤”的脚步。他仍然踉踉跄跄走着，守护着他难以割舍的、救死扶伤的人生。

Blackbone Tale is realized by Jeremy Clapin in collaboration with Spirit Productions, with the support of Centre de la Premiere Oeuvre (GOBELINS). It's a high result of mixing 2d and 3d: the characters are made in 3d cellshading and the remains in 2d. This silent mute is pure poetry. A man alone, with his peculiar physique: he has his head held low, looking down at the ground. Clapin needs only few minutes to show you the emotional state of this man: his loneliness and his quest for a human being like him. A profound analysis of alienation and frustation of people: man needs to live with other men.
