《攻壳机动队》，是由日本漫画家士郎正宗1989年4月22日首次连载于讲谈社青年漫画月刊《Young Magazine海贼版》的漫画，进度为每三个月一话，第一部总共收录有12话，在结束了第一部以后正式开始了第二部的连载，于1991年10月5日以一千日元的高价（相对同期的其他漫画而言）第一次印刷发行攻壳机动队第一部漫画的单行本。《攻壳机动队》还被改编为电视动画、动画电影。 单行本中充满注解，比漫画还多。人物性格大多很轻松。作者的话中说道：“对于默默不断前进的科学，SF（科幻）也总不能总是描写世纪末的倦怠世界吧。未来还是明亮的好。” 英语名称中的“Ghost”是指灵魂，而“Shell”则指肉体躯壳。 故事的背景舞台设定在近未来的日本，时间是2030年代前后，街道是以香港作为绘图基础。当时进步的科技已可将人体的大部分替换为生化躯体，且透过埋藏在大脑中的线路，人类意识可以进入数位网络之中。此时出现了许多生化人与网络黑客的新型态犯罪事件，因此成立了直属于首相的“公安九课”(通称：攻壳机动队)，以武力来直接打击犯罪。 本作品对于未来科技的考据、设想，以及精致细密的描……
