故事发生在一家寻常的公司，HR部门的负责人麦克（Mike Heim 饰）正对前来应聘的戴恩·汉森（Dane Hanson 饰）进行面试，面试中有测谎的环节。届时麦克提出问题，汉森先生则做出回答，一旦他的答案有水分，那么那台最新式的测你谎3000测谎仪就会发出刺耳的提示音。测试最开始，汉森先按照对方的要求说了几句显而易见的假话以及真话对机器进行测试，而在此过程中他的一句真话勾起了麦克强烈的兴趣。当然人类总会为了掩饰什么而故意说谎，不过是汉森，连麦克也在这场面试过程中闹出不少的笑话……
