Macedonian Don and his buddy Kalle have been friends since childhood and have practically spent their whole lives together. They now live together in a shared flat and are about to graduate with a brilliant degree in civil engineering when terrible news arrives: Don is to be deported after all these years in Germany! What's more, his mother sends him a cake from Macedonia - Don thinks he's supposed to marry his promised fiancée Hatice... Don and Kalle, machos of the finest kind, start to panic. Only Hedi, the neighbor who studies psychology, stays cool and has the idea that saves the day: Don should simply enter into a sham marriage so that he can stay in Germany... But it's not that easy, because Don and Kalle have only ever used women and seen them as sex objects...

Two stay-at-home dads who meet at the playground realize that their daily routine is stifling their creative talents. Without telling their wives, they organize a service that connects retired women with families in need of babysitters. The business is so successful that it quickly becomes too much for them to handle.

In two chapters the film shows men in divided Germany willing to leave their country. In the first chapter, East-Germans are shown who leave their wives and children behind in order to live in the Federal Republic of Germany. In the second chapter, unmarried West-Germans try to move to the German Democratic Republic.

3 German men of about 40 years old decide to take a men-only holiday only in a luxurious villa at a small lake in Sweden. They are there to make up the balance of their lives. Thomas a chain-smoking hypochondriac, Jens undecided between his wife and kids and his mistress, Malte a fun loving sort of macho. In Sweden they party with beer, wine, vodka and barbecue and soon with some new male and female acquaintances. This goes on until halfway the movie things take a turn and they have a good look at themselves and each other and come to some enlightening conclusions.
