大型激情舞剧《燃烧地板》的创意源于八年前艾尔顿·约翰（Elton John）的50岁生日宴。当时，这位巨星寿星为六百来宾准备了一场国际舞和拉丁舞表演，精彩的演出让宾客们深深陶醉。其中一位澳大利亚制作人麦德卡夫受此启发，萌生了亲自监制《燃烧地板》的想法，最终打造出这台融合多种舞蹈精髓与高科技制作手段的激情舞剧，舞剧一亮相便充满让地板燃烧的激情。 自1999年推出后，短短六年，《燃烧地板》就成为国际舞台上最酷、最火辣、最性感、最轰动且极具观赏性和戏剧性的舞蹈佳作。此次该剧在中国的演出，已是其第八次世界巡演。它已登上欧美15个国家、87个城市的大舞台。2002年，他们在东京国际论坛馆创造了演出票提前半年售罄的纪录；在大阪新落成的万人剧场，售票头五个小时就卖出了45000张票。《燃烧地板》掀起的舞夜风暴曾席卷北美。

大谷 淳さんの映画が、プラネット＋１で上映されるというので観に行ったのですが、大阪駅には上映の30分前（プラネットは駅から3～4分）に着きながら、チラシにあるマップが悪いのか、方向音痴のこちらが悪いのか――ともかく道に迷ってしまって彼の処女作『Nothｉｎｇ』（’79～’80）という作品は途中からになってしまいました。 それでも『Ｆｌｏｏｒ Light』（’84～’87）、『Ｌｅｆｔ ａｎｄ Right』（’89）、『At Night １』（’90）、『床にズームすること』（’92）、『白い部屋 １』（’01）と、念願のほぼ全作品を観ることが出来ました。 ぼくも実験映像・個人映像に関わって長い歳月が経ちますが、これほどまでに床や、道路に執着する作家は初めてでしたので、その視点に先ずは驚嘆しました。 中でも『Ｆｌｏｏｒ Light』と『At Night １』は素晴らしく、前者では床に映る光が段々と台風が過ぎ去った後の空のように見えてきて忘れることの出来ない映像となりました。後者の夜の道路でも、横断歩道の白と黒との平面が突如立体化して見え、あたかもそこが階段（石段）であるかなような錯覚を起こさせており、これまた忘れえぬショットです。
