Heaven is a place with crumbling ceilings, an aging Jesus, and angels and saints entertained by human sexuality. On earth, Christmas, 1999, Jacques, who's dying of cancer, meets Sophie, pregnant and abandoned. Her babies and his death are due in the spring. Jacques runs a cabaret facing bankruptcy because his landlord insists on a 15-minute speech about Jesus every evening by the boring Bernard, and all the customers leave. Jacques prays for Bernard's removal: Heaven arranges a car crash. Jacques keeps a tape recorder handy, narrating his final days, focused on composing memorable last words. In Heaven, the dead Bernard keeps watch over Jacques and Sophie, with saving effect.

A struggling architect, being sued for divorce by his wife and struggling with booze and gambling, finds work remodeling a friend's strip club, the Paradise. There he meets a transsexual stripper who is bothered by accurate, but extremely violent visions of future events. The increasingly violent visions start including the architect, who doesn't believe in the prophesy. One who does however is a psychiatrist who is seeing both the stripper and the architect and is sleeping with the ex-wife. He uses the prophecies for his own financial gain. Finally the scenes from the vision move into reality amidst many plot turns.

Our idea of Heaven: Nine rockin' anal scenes! Lanny is over-the-top hot. Paul Thomas is at his "most awarded" best. Hillary Scott is as nasty as they come...and boy do they come. And the word-of-mouth on this big-budget, multi-location thriller is off the charts. Look for it at awards time... but look at it right now first. You'll think you died and went to Heaven.
