For Il Gabbiano, the first stage of the Chekhov Project, director Leonardo Lidi creates a simple stage setting in which he weaves together a sound box for the emotions that drive the characters, isolated on the shores of a large lake on a summer estate.

The film depicts the story of Leonardo's death in grotesque ways. Relatives begin the traditional preparations for the funeral, while the "deceased" archaically "walks" through the city streets, watching with interest the preparations for his own funeral.

This two-part, four-hour documentary delves into the world of a 15th-century art titan and unravels his journey while shedding light on his lasting impact on future generations.
