A young man who long ago gave over the hard work of being a composer for the easy life of a rich man's son is bamboozled into slapping together a musical production. Having borrowed right and left, and plagiarized the works of a friend, he feels cheap, very cheap. He feels even worse when the awful thing is a success.

Maestro, tells the story of how a group of people found refuge and a call for life outside the mainstream. What evolved was a scene that set the ground work for what was to come in dance music culture worldwide, a rare insight into the secret underground world. It's the first time this story is told in a motion Picture, included in the film are pioneer dance music DJs and producers, "founding fathers", its center being Larry Levan, as well as high-profile DJs of today. Set Against the backdrop of a 1960's jungle seaport in tropical Australia and the rich concert halls of wintry Vienna, Maestro is a story of extremes. When talented pianist, 18 yr old Paul Crabbe moves to an exotic outpost of Far Northern Australia in 1968, he is forced to learn from the only piano teacher his father can find - the eccentric, enigmatic, Herr Keller,a Viennese refugee with a shadowed past. In the late 1980s, Pasha Karitonov, a young musician from Odessa, returns home from an eight-month trip to India working on board a merchant ship. He has been trying to earn enough money to buy his own flat, a condition imposed by the father of his girlfriend, Lilia before they can get married. However, when exchanging his currency one day, Pasha encounters a young swindler girl, who steals all his money. Pasha realises that this puts paid to the wedding plans, so the lovers decide to flee to Crimea.

Maestro follows Grammy award-winning conductor Paavo Järvi and an array of brilliant musicians as they perform to sold-out music halls across the world.
