丁宝（李亚鹏 饰）出生于东北小城，考上了中央戏剧学院，因而来到了繁华的首都北京。毕业后，丁宝想要留在北京发展，于是选择前往位于北京郊区的平义县文化馆工作。虽说这里好歹也算是北京的土地，但是无论是工作环境还是打交道的人，都和丁宝往日在学校里接触到的大相径庭。 文化馆的工作十分清闲，正直盛年的丁宝感到百般无聊，闲暇时又不会做饭，于是一日三餐只能依靠不同口味的方便面勉强打发。在朋友的介绍下，丁宝结识了名为小春（龚蓓苾 饰）的女孩，小春的出现给丁宝的生活里增添了许多的快乐和生机，他亦告别了方便面时代，每日品尝着小春的好手艺。某日，丁宝参加了同学聚会，发现昔日同窗，如今已经成为了著名剧作家，联想到自己的情况而深受打击的丁宝对目前的生活产生了疑问和动摇。
