`Saanjh` is a Pahari (Dogri) feature film about Sanju, a 16-year-old girl who lives in Chandigarh with her parents. Due to an unexpected tragedy in the family, her father, Shamsher Thakur, decides to leave her with her grand mother, in a remote village in Himachal Pradesh. Sanju is born and brought up in Chandigarh, a metro city in northern India, so living in a village is more like a punishment for her. Sanju`s grandmother who lives by herself in the remote village, always wanted a grandson, but her son Sahmsher and his wife Meera, decided to go with a single child. Not finding the love and care of her grandmother, Sanju felt isolated in this remote village, and wanted to leave the place as soon as possible. During her loneliness she finds Jonga as her companion in village. Jonga is a mentally challenged boy who lives with her grandmother.
