The "sleepless years" in this propaganda piece by director Felix Marlassy occur on Csepel Island, an island south of Budapest that is home to an armaments factory. The factory workers are shown being exploited by imperialists, capitalists gone berserk, and fascists, more or less in that exact chronological sequence. The heavy-handed approach does much to undercut the belief that when socialism finally takes over, the lives of the workers are brought up to a human level. In this instance, audiences might prefer a more nuanced and subtle statement, no matter what the message.

A social romance that portrays the lives of 4 married couples who are friends. As they gather to celebrate the birthday of the daughter of one of them, their fundamental differences and their unstable marriages come to the surface as the men decide to leave for Alexandria.

We all find our selves at one time in our life desperately holding on to a cup of coffee hoping it can get you a couple more hours of work done. This semester it is no different for Jeff and his friends as they battle through the horrors of college.

Equal parts visual poetry and scientific observation, Sleepless Birds studies the rise of artificially lit industrial greenhouses in the French region of Bretagne, the dire consequences they have on the region’s biodiversity, and the disruption of time and perception they enact on life in their vicinity. In this collaboration between filmmaker Tom Claudon and visual artist Dana Melaver, the directors bring together a wide range of experts to speak to the ecological and physiological ramifications agricultural light pollution has on otherwise symbiotic natural systems, all of whom offer a compassionate and, at times, even lighthearted understanding of the case at hand. Visually striking and narratively informative, Sleepless Birds raises prescient questions about the endurance and workings of autonomous habitats, as well as of the consequences of human attempts to overpower nature and control the elements. 源自：https://hotdocs.ca/whats-on/hot-docs-festival/films/2023/sleepless-birds
