One day in the life of Elena Ivanovna in St. Petersburg in search of a man, sex and, maybe, love.

During a spur-of-the-moment trip to St. Petersburg, chief financial officer Elena unexpectedly meets the man of her dreams – and then, equally unexpectedly, loses him again. She has nothing to go on, so she breaks out everything she's got to hunt him down: logical deduction, supernatural forces, her friends' help, a new guy she's met, a retreat, and much more. Since she was a little girl, Elena has always "taken life at a march," climbing the career ladder with frankly alarming determination, never letting herself get waylaid by romance or relationships. She's always been like that – right up until this weird, accidental, incredibly lucky meeting. In the new episodes, Elena gets back to hunting down the one that got away, using every aboveground (or underhand) method available to her. She rushes headlong into it, makes mistakes, falls down, but keeps going, making the difficult journey toward love and affection, and, most importantly, finding herself.

The plot is based on a story-interview about the testing of the new strategic missile carrier Tu-22K and Tu-22M2/M3 (for well-known reasons, in close-ups, instead of them, the film shot the then less secret Tu-134 UBL - a combat training laboratory) and the tragic events associated with them, given to journalist Odintsov by test pilot Borovsky. Testing of a new jet aircraft, the psychology of human life, the problems and joys of life of pilots - all this is closely intertwined in the film. The heroes of the film - friends test pilots Dolotov and Sanin - have walked together all their lives. But it so happened that one of them, Dolotov, was once unfairly suspended from flying, while Sanin failed to protect and support his friend. Friends' paths diverged...

The quartet enjoys the festive atmosphere as they try to forget the horrors of the most recent war. On the brink of adulthood, the characters learn valuable lessons about their lives. Made in 1967, this feature won a Special Award at the International Week Of Asian Film Festival in Frankfort as well as a prize from the Locarno Film Festival. Elyer Ishmukhamedov's 1967 film was deeply influenced by and tuned into the French New Wave and the latest currents in Italian cinema, and there are long stretches in this incandescent film where you might think you're watching a lost Fellini classic. It's summertime in Tashkent, and these three intertwined stories of young love (the first sharing the name of the film itself, the other two named after their heroines, Lena and Mamura) seem to float over the screen like gossamer on a warm breeze.
