A man and his grandmother hide out from an ominous broadcast. The Grim Reaper hosts a TV show. The formerly incarcerated recount and reinterpret their first days of freedom. A suburban mom's life is upturned by the beast growing inside of her. And a high school gym teacher runs drills from inside a volcano. What happens when five of independent film's most adventurous filmmakers join together to literally adapt each other’s dreams for the screen?

Meet Martin, an aspiring screenwriter whose scripts keep getting rejected. He has an exasperated wife, handing him some big news with a serious ultimatum attached. And, he has an uncontrolled medical condition that influences everything. Bigtime. Reality can be kind of harsh. Martin's writing obsession is causing his life to go haywire. Neglecting most all else, except for managing to get his wife pregnant, she demands a steady paycheck if he wants to save their marriage. Martin caves, taking on landscaping jobs, but it can't squash his writer's over-active imagination. It also can't stop the strange psychological symptoms from his neglected medical condition. An unlikely and mysterious duo appear, an older intellectual gentleman and a beautiful young woman, a dancer. Creating all sorts of trouble for Martin, they confuse his addled brain all the more. The two mischievously and joyfully blur the lines between his unconscious, imagination, and reality.

故事开始于1913年的巴塞罗那，艾玛（蕾欧诺·瓦特林 Leonor Watling 饰）挺着肚子正在准备迎接腹中新的生命，就在这个节骨眼上，她的丈夫里昂（阿莱克斯·布伦德穆尔 Alex Brendemühl 饰）竟然离家出走音信全无。在姐夫萨尔瓦多（路伊斯·托沙 Luis Tosar 饰）的帮助之下，艾玛开始调查里昂的去向。从后者留下的种种蛛丝马迹看来，一个神秘的女病人和里昂的失踪有着千丝万缕的关联。 在调查的过程中，萨尔瓦多还发现了自己的妻子奥利维亚（Núria Prims 饰）所隐藏的秘密，与此同时，萨尔瓦多深藏在心底的对于艾玛的爱意借由此次机会死灰复燃。而这一切，难道都是弗洛伊德的错吗？
