Ten years after its beloved superhero died, Waterside is now a city built on crime and corruption and at it's centre, King Industries. A mysterious, yet city-wide company that is offering large sums of money to families in poverty in exchange for experimentation. A group of people within Waterside are the only ones who can expose the corruption within, and with their own lives at stake, they have to be stealthy in their motives.

澎湃新闻出品的系列纪录片《水边人》由中法团队联合制作，中法多地取景拍摄。若干位与苏州河、塞纳河关系紧密的“水边人”将讲述他们的故事，折射历史变迁、空间变革与城市演变。在历史长河中凝视个体的生活，定格跨越时空的浪花。《水边人》由三个聚焦不同主题的单集组成。三集的关系是互相补充、结合递进，构筑了一个围绕巴黎与上海、河流与城市的互文话题与思考语境。
