When Birdy was young, he was like a fledgling still learning how to fly. He needed care and nurturing from his family to grow strong, yet he didn’t want to grow into the person his family expected him to be. ‘I want to change my name, get top surgery, and start hormone therapy!’ In a confused and uncertain twenties, this was almost the only thing he felt sure about. ‘But if I become someone else, how am I supposed to face them?’ That fear pushed him to the edge, to the idea of staging his own death. ‘If my family thought I was already dead, could I start over with a completely new identity?’ Second Round is a coming-of-age documentary that intertwines Birdy’s gender transition with his inner emotional transformation—pulling back, pushing back, confusion, courage, fear, anxiety, and taking one last all-in gamble. We walk alongside Birdy through countless thoughts and struggles, witnessing a life crack open, grow, and ultimately find its way back to itself.

However, an unexpected flood swept it away, carrying it through a dark passage until it arrived in a serene, azure pond. The newt found companionship among its kind and thrived in the aquatic haven. But as it ventured back onto land after the breeding season, it encountered unforeseen threats.

Jeong-su and Cheol-ho desert from forced service in the Japanese military and hide in Manchuria, taking jobs in a gold mine. Cheol-ho is accused of stealing and makes his way to the safety of Jeong-su hometown. He stays with the latter's blind wife, passing himself off as Jeong-su and plotting revenge against those who falsely accused him of robbery.
