There’s snow on the ground and shepherds Carole and Pascal are heading through French-speaking Switzerland with three donkeys, four dogs and 800 sheep. Skirting main roads, railway tracks, suburban houses, and industrial estates, moving over fields and through forests. They meet local people, the farmers they are friends with, as well as those unwilling to let the sheep cross their pastures. They sleep in the open air, warm themselves by the fire and wash in streams. 　　This is what it can look like when nature meets culture: a sheep on the veranda of a terraced house. A meal of oysters around a winter campfire. A huge herd of sheep by a noisy motorway or housing estate. Combining its beautifully photographed images with a keen ear for sound, the film places the almost obsolete seeming profession and lifestyle of the shepherd within a changing environment. The shepherds’ exertions, hard work and silent contentment, the animals’ gazes, bodies and movements, the breeder’s business concerns and the reactions of passers-by stand side by side, allowing a portrait to emerge which departs from the myth of the shepherd’s idyllic existence without devaluing it in the process.

Prince Victor looks in vain for a swan which was wounded by one of his servants. Instead he discovers a beautiful girl with golden hair who has an arrow in her shoulder. She is dumb and can't explain her origin. He falls immediately for her. The girl quickly recovers, but disappears mysteriously, leaving Victor unhappy. The king forbids his son to search for her. Victor is meant to marry the queen of the lake because she has a treasure of precious pearls and is the only one left befitting his rank . She sends her subordinate to kidnap children and uses them to obtain more pearls. Victor gets in touch with his girl during a dream thanks to a magical potion. She is a princess and her name is Odette. The queen of the lake kidnapped her and the other princesses, has taken their speech and transformed them into swans, so she's the one left to marry Victor. Everybody who seems to be dangerous for the queen of the lake is thrown down for a giant man-eating fish. Disguised as a servant, Victor tries to save the princesses and to punish the queen, but she sees through his plans and takes revenge: Odette should live as a swan forever and ever, and Victor should die. But Victor succeeds with help of the detained children to free Odette and the other princesses. Finally, while attempting to escape, the queen of the lake turns to stone.

After the cremation of his father, Vincent and his family gather relatives in the back shop of the family butchery for a final tribute. Vincent announce to his family that he leaves for some time with his boyfriend Olivier.

An ink on paper animation mixed with live action. It is based on a legend in which a mermaid falls in love with a young man and is allowed to share her life on land with him as long as he doesn't strike her more then three times.
