1959年，受美国统治的冲绳。没有医师职照的代理医师 “医介辅”宫前良明 (堺 雅人)，在没有足够的药物和医疗设备的环境下，抱着身为医介辅立场的矛盾与无力感，在美军基地的村庄中，替生病或受伤的村民们进行诊疗。自己过着简朴的生活，对于没有钱付医药费的贫穷村民们，他反而还拿钱给他们。妻子 花只是默默守护支持这样的良明。 有一天，住在附近的渔夫妻子来到诊疗所，说她怀孕了。但是她在3个月前被美军强暴，所以不确定肚子里的孩子是不是丈夫的。因为良明看过许多在战场上死亡的战友，所以面对因为不能对警察或丈夫说实话的她只能说「我不想让妳堕胎，如果可以，希望你能生下来」但是…。 此剧以医介辅和病患之间的羁绊和信赖关系为主轴，描写战后冲绳现实情形的感动人性物语。

He is caught, moreover he is blamed for the death of a soldier killed during this skirmish. He is arrested to be tried for a claim of death sentence. Coachman Bayram is hardly making ends meet when he is married off to a flighty akin woman with children. One day, Bayram finds Hafize dead, who would not also respond to his sexual needs, with another man in the bed. Young Ali, who witnesses this event just after Bayram, believes that Bayram is the murderer; and his opinion is also shared by the police. Prosecutor Yusuf is brought to the prison only to find Bayram in the same ward who became the whipping boy of the ward. Yusuf takes him under his wings. The lawyer assigned by the State to defend Bayram forces him to act as an executioner. If Bayram agrees to be an executioner, he would be released from the murder investigation. Bayram is deceived due to his naiveness and his dilemma results on to agree to become an executioner despite Yusuf’s warnings...
