Set in early 18th-century Madrid, the plot follows the love story between an agoraphobic cook and a widowed nobleman.

若昂是一位50岁的演员，他和72岁的母亲塞利娜住在一起。他的时间一部分花在夜间在小型同志酒吧以异装癖者的身份工作，一部分用于出演小型戏剧、电影和电视节目。若昂被过去的阴影所折磨和困扰，日复一日，他开始将自己生活的现实与所诠释的虚构角色相混淆。

私大教授で近世庶民文化史が専門でもある塔馬双太郎（佐々木蔵之介）は、雑誌編集部員・名掛亜里沙（森口瑤子）と推理小説家・長山作治（橋本さとし）が次に取材する資料に目を通す。取材テーマはからくり人形。亜里沙は、からくり人形研究家として名高い京南大学工学部の神楽教授を訪ね、新潟で「からくり人形展」が開催されるという話を聞かされる。新潟は米の送り出しを通して江戸や上方の文化が流れ込んだ町で、今も江戸の文化を後世に伝えようという取り組みが盛んなのだという。亜里沙は、大正時代に書かれた古い文献の写しを塔馬に見せる。そこには「新潟県の奥地に驚くべき秘宝を所蔵する“偶人館”なるものがある…」とあった。亜里沙は「秘宝」とは、からくり人形のことではないかと推測し、塔馬の興味も大いにそそられたのだった。亜里沙と長山は、からくり人形展で神楽教授と再会を果たす。そこには、神楽の古い友人でからくり人形マニアの新島（渡辺裕之）も来ていた。神楽も新島も家族で会場に来ていたが、新島の家族は妻に、愛人とその娘・娘の恋人…と少し家族構成にワケありの様子だ。亜里沙が神楽に「偶人館」のことを聞く。「偶人館」の名前を聞いた途端、神楽の表情は曇り、しらを切る。ほかの家族も困惑した様子をみせた。話をそらそうと新島が亜里沙に別のからくり人形を見せる。吉と大吉しか出ないおみくじのからくり人形だったが、出てきた紙には「べんきちはゆるさないぞ」という謎の文言が。同時に別のからくり人形の首が転げ落ちた。新島は質の悪いいたずらだとその場を取り繕うが…。亜里沙は塔馬に電話をして状況を説明。事件の予感を覚えた塔馬は、休講しても大丈夫なように学生たちの課題を数日分作成して、新潟へと向かう。

The story of love between the two youngones, about it's continuation, with all the difficulties and beauty which it carries, about ending of that love because of the conflict with emphasized dynamics and false values of contemporary life. In this feature concerning the joys and travails of teenagers, one boy complains that his father's wartime heroism and status of being in high political favor is overshadowing his own accomplishments. Those looking for light, relatively escapist drama will find it here, though the film's portentous manner of telling the students' stories, complete with narration by an "older but wiser" graduate, may put some viewers off initially.

In an attempt at greater efficiency, the chef of a fancy oceanside restaurant and his assistant wreak havoc in the establishment. Adding to the complications is the arrival of a robber.

Maravan, a charming young immigrant from Sri Lanka works in Zurich as a sous-chef, but dreams of opening his own restaurant where traditional Indian kitchen, as his grandmother taught it to him, crosses over with avant-garde "molecular kitchen". Turns out his creations are highly aphrodisiatic, so much so that when he casually invites his colleague Andrea (Jessica Schwarz) over she ends up seducing him, even though he's pretty conservative and believes in arranged marriage and she's actually a lesbian. While the two are getting their business started, Maravan's cousin returns to his homeland and is recruited by the underground army Tamil Tigers. Marvan tries to bail him out, but also discovers that one of his clients, the superseedy Dalmann, is actually an arms dealer -- to the Tamil Tigers! Oh, and he's also sleeping with the girlfriend of Andrea, who's a lesbian and a prostitute (for men). At the same time, Maravan's nan is ill and has to come to Zurich for treatment, and the toothsome Sandana, with whom he was arranged to be married but who gave him the cold shoulder, seems not averse to rekindling the flame ...
