The story begins when a child meets Latair, a fairy of the Earth. With Latair’s magical powers, the child transforms into various creatures and embarks on a journey through ecosystems around the world, becoming friends with the animals they encounter. However, these new friends are all endangered species. Moved by a desire to protect them, the child decides to become an Earth Saver.

Although at first sight this might look like a simple ‘making of DANCER IN THE DARK’, the later developments in the film reveal the whole drama of Lars von Trier’s inner life during the shooting process. All his doubts and insecurities in collaborating with the crew and actors - especially actresses - are exposed. The biggest drama started when Björk walked off the set. Nobody knew whether she would be back or not. Admitting that he feels threatened by women, who can ‘make him feel embarrassed’, the director gives this documentary the nature of a personal diary. When he discusses the importance, purpose and beauty of the use of a hundred cameras in a certain sequence or the meaning of the Dogma 95 rules, the audience is witnessing the process of the artist’s search. In medieval Germany, poor and witty Till Eulenspiegel fools and cheats citizens, churchmen, and landlords. Although in most cases he uses his wit for personal well-being, he often helps the poor and weak. Eventually, he gains an influential but also dangerous position as royal fool at the court of the emperor.

A film of the making of the new Tiersen album, Les Retrouvailles, La Traversée (The Crossing), was made by young director Aurelie du Boys. Tiersen says he wanted to fix the moment, immortalize it on film as something freshly created with each of his different collaborators, Jane Birkin, Liz Frazer (of Cocteau Twins), Stuart Staples (of Tindersticks), Dominique A and Christophe Miossec. A musical documentary where you see the musicians struggling with the computer, fine-tuning the recording, smoking a cigarette against the sea spray of Ouessant or riding a scooter down the island’s pebbly tracks.
