《对照记》由“视觉艺术篇”和“表演艺术篇”两部影片组成。影片通过不同世代艺术家之间的对话，展现了艺术工作者如何结合自身所处的时代状况，运用独特的语言和内涵进行创作与思辨。此外，艺术“传承”在不同世代艺术家身上有着不同的定义和实践方式，绽放出别样的光彩。

家境富有的叶常青年轻时到处窃玉偷香，与妻林洁霜感情不睦。青下属李秋桐教青子志森射击而成为好友。森与方曼玲相恋，玲父方伯祥不齿青所为反对二人交往。霜知悉此事，向森抱怨青行为不检，令家人蒙羞，而桐实为青的私生子，森大怒离家出走。　　玲有孕，森碍于家声狼藉拒绝和玲结婚，桐仗义与玲结为挂名夫妻。祥误信流言，以为玲有孕是青所为，往枪杀青。事后祥发生意外，临终前得闻桐说出真相。青伤重残废，自此诚心悔改，与家人修好。

Hisashi Tenmyouya: Samurai Nouveau presents a look into the artist Hisashi Tenmyouya and his NEO-Traditional Japanese Painting style. Tenmyouya breaks out of old, conventional stereotypes and inherits the distinctly Japanese counterculture and eccentricity. He incorporates modern art, traditional Japanese painting, street art, and illustration, being an artist that simply cannot be classified into a single genre. Throughout this film he uses gold foil and fine brushes to prepare for various exhibitions while people surrounding the artist share their thoughts. Watch Tenmyouya as he reveals his soul through melding of modern urban subjects with traditional painting methods.

After finishing tertiary education, they were immediately challenged with the recurrent economy downturn and a society too rigid and suffocating for alternatives. Sustaining their arts persual under such circumstances, and take it as a career is simply suicidal. While we keep our fingers crossed for these hearty young people, their reasons and journey to becoming artists are ant-biting our curiosity. Previous art-related experiences, upbringings, studies, works or life-turning incidents may be the explanations, but what is it they most concern about after all? Is Hong Kong a feasible place for their arts development?
