the story is based on a real-life scandal that actually shook Budapest in 1925. Butcher Ferenc Kodelka, the owner of the biggest slaughterhouse in town, falls head over heels in love with Mici, formerly a prostitute but now the wife of ex-police officer Gusztav Léderer. With her husband’s consent, she spends many pleasurable hours with Kodelka in exchange for a modest financial compensation. A wild and insatiable love triangle starts to take shape as the three main characters slowly get sucked into a morally corrupt way of life. Léderer and his wife steal money from the butcher, and their greed carries on growing to the point where there is soon only one solution: Kodelka has to disappear...

A politically pious sermonette. This film probably was brave for it's day, but, such films often get made when social conditions deem it necessary. (Hence the venereal-disease-warning films that were shown during WW2). As a political document it is interesting to see how it craftily avoids asking why, in a society in which political change was supposed to have brought sexual and social emancipation for all, as well as work for all, women should still need to sell sex in order to survive, and, like all other religions, the only message the so-called communism of the USSR had to offer was "don't do it". Pious and dreary, it has nothing to say, and what little it does say, is patronising and predictable. But, on the other hand, this was 1927..!

Seemingly 47,000 individual trees, it is unified by a single, interconnected root system, making it a ‘forest of one.’ Believed to be between 16,000 and 80,000 years old, it is the largest and heaviest known organism on land. Pando’s invisible root system is a guiding metaphor that emphasizes the interconnectedness between humans and non-human beings, as well as the notion of oneness described by many spiritual traditions. The footage was processed at home in the kitchen with an eco-friendly, coffee-based developer that leaves unpredictable inscriptions and traces on the film surface, at times creating visually abstract and speckled images. The filmmakers see this materially focused film practice as a form of devotion, and an opportunity to rethink ecological entanglements.

Travis, is a thirty-something psychiatrist haunted by the death of a former patient. On the brink of a nervous breakdown he stumbles across a group run by a charismatic leader, Father Jay.
