为公益活动筹款，西恩·潘在脸书上发起了由自己主演的电影《开放的美国学府》的线上剧本朗读活动，重现了影片中的一些经典场景，直播长达一个小时。本次线上剧本朗读会原定在一个月之前举办，由于“技术原因”推迟到今日，其中最惹人注意的就是皮特与安妮斯顿这一对已离婚15年夫妇的线上重聚。皮特读的是Brad Hamilton（原版电影中由祖德·莱茵霍尔德饰演）的台词，而安妮斯顿的角色则是Linda Barrett（片中菲比·凯茨饰），两人用声音重现了影片中经典的“泳衣”一段戏份。影片导演艾米·海克林与编剧卡梅伦·克罗也出现在了直播中，《开放的美国学府》正是改编自卡梅伦的原著小说。

The whole world in one film: Robert, a young Dane, is shanghaied in Marseille, and via Acapulco he is abducted into the South Pacific. There he kills his father and seduces his mother. Then he explores the changing world. The end finds him in a Polynesian village, where the chief bestows him with a girl of his age-class. A working-class boy wins a scholarship to a public school, as part of a post-World War Two experiment in bringing boys of different social classes together.

This film dealt with a lot of inner conflicts that African-Americans where unwilling to deal with at the time. Class struggles, light skinned vs. dark skinned and greeks vs. non-greeks. I just purchased it on DVD, but I remember seeing this film when it first came out in February of 1988 and it is just as powerful and entertaining now as it was then. It's amazing to look at this film now and see all of the actors who went on to successful careers afterwards, like Laurence(then Larry) Fishburne, Tisha Campbell, Giancarlo Esposito, Roger Guenveur Smith, Kadeem Hardison, Jasmine Guy, Darryl Bell, Rusty Cundieff(director of "Tales From The Hood"), Bill Nunn, Branford Marsalis, and of course I can't forget Samuel L. Jackson. Three years after this film came out a cousin from Seattle came to visit, I showed him this film and he was surprised to discover that there were actually historically black colleges and universities(HBCU's) in this country. He later attended Southern University here in Baton Rouge. That was the effect this film had and continues to have on young African-Americans and their views of HBCU's.

Grainbelt University has one attraction for Dobie Gillis (Bobby Van) - women, especially Pansy Hammer (Debbie Reynolds). Pansy's father (Hanley Stafford), even though and maybe because she says she's in dreamville, does not share her affection for Dobie. An English essay which almost revolutionizes English instruction, and Dobie's role in a chemistry lab explosion convinces Mr. Hammer he is right. Pansy is sent off broken-hearted to an Eastern school, but with the help of Happy Stella Kolawski's (Kathleen Freeman) all-girl band, several hundred students and an enraged police force, Dobie secures Pansy's return to Grainbelt.

步入大学校园的沈知予，被室友擅自低价转卖自家电脑。遭受周遭误会与压力，她没有一味退让，用正规方式厘清事实。在共同的学业协作之下，化解宿舍之间的矛盾，四人彼此谅解，在校园生活当中学会相处，收获成长。
