Private detective Hayakawa Ken takes on the identity of Kaiketsu Zubatto to revenge the murder of his friend, Goro Asuka, by the evil group Dacker. Each week Zubat defeats another masked villain leaving a card with a large "Z" in the center of it, and a red rose on the fallen criminal. Hayakawa Ken (or Ken Hayakawa to westerners) looks like he stepped out of the American west in his black leather outfit complete with cowboy hat. Like Jiro in "Jinzo Ningen Kikaida" he announces his presence by playing a guitar. In order to do battle with the villains who have one side of their faces masked, he removes from the secret compartment in his guitar the power suit and helmet which give him super human speed and agility, becoming Kaiketsu Zubat. Zubat is armed with a whip and a red dagger, of his own design. He usually enters combat by driving his flying car to the building the bad guys are hiding in, then swinging in through the window on his whip.

The story is very basic; it deals with the adventures of young street-criminals in Madrid who graduate from car-theft to bank-robbery. What's interesting is the way Saura makes us care about these "hijos de nadie", who are kind and decent people 50% of the time, and feel they have no future in regular society. But the movie never sentimentalizes them - they do exactly what you'd expect such people to do.

Abducted by Dacoits at a very young age, Jeevan Thakur ends up as a Dacoit and becomes a legend of his own by creating terror and fear amongst folks in the region, and comes to be known as Jeeva. Police Inspector Dushant Singh has been assigned the task of apprehending Dacoits, and he sets off to hunt them down one by one. Jeeva wants to avenge his sufferings at the hands of moneylender Lala, and sets off to do this. The Sardar of the Dacoits is killed, and the gang elect Lakhan as their leader. Lakhan is opposed to Jeeva and Gopal Singh, compelling both to flee. With the police on their tracks, the duo must also dodge Lakhan and his gang, and at the same time attempt to get even with Lala.
