悪名コンビの朝吉と清次は、スケコマシの常公に騙されて連れていかれた、家出娘お君を探して、夜のジャンジャン横丁にやって来た。案の定お君は売春組織の毒牙にかかり、すでに客をひかされていた。一計を案じた朝吉は何くわぬ顔でポン引常公の案内で、お君の客となった。一方の清次も、同じ宿の女朱実と一時を過した。女たちの悲しい境遇を知りお君と朱実を逃がす覚悟を決めた朝吉は、先に清次とお君を裏口から逃がし、みずからも得意の頭突きで追手をけちらして朱実とともに逃げだした。しかし清次はどうやらお君だけは逃がしたものの、自分は追手のライフル銃で負傷し捕まってしまった。そんなこととは知らぬ朝吉は、姿を見せぬ清次に心を残しながらも、常公、朱実を更生させようと、北陸のとある温泉場に向った。しかし表面は朝吉に従順な常公だったが、本心は朱実を大阪に連れもどそうとしていた。が、そんなこととは露知らず、朝吉は二人を連れて、片山津温泉にやってきた。そこで朝吉は素性の知れぬ女百合子に誘われるまま百合子と一夜を過ごした。が、翌日、百合子はかかってきた電話にあやつられるように姿を消した。朝吉も大阪へ帰り、すぐ先に帰した常公と朱実を下宿に訪ねた。だが今は二人の姿はなく、やくざ新湊組が手ぐすね引いて朝吉を待ちかまえていた。一方の清次は持前の弁舌で、今は新湊組にとりいりポン引をやっていたが、朝吉の危急を聞いて朝吉のもとにかけつけた。朝吉、清次らをとりまいた新湊組の先頭には、あの片山津の女百合子がいた。百合子は新湊組の女親分だったのだ。朝吉や清次の説得も功も奏せず、今やこれまでと二人は鉄挙をうならせた。が多勢に無勢、二人は力尽きあわやと思われた時、朝吉の侠気にうたれて改心した常公が、火を吹くガス熔接器を片手に助けにきた。形勢は逆転した。金を積んで許しを乞う新湊組に、札束をたたき返した朝吉は、百合子に売春組織を解散させることを約束させ、清次とともに、朝日の輝く街を去っていった。
