《雄性》为手冢治虫实验动画作品之一。手塚治虫自1962年至1988年创作了十三部较有名的动画作品，非常珍贵。一路看下来，因为是实验性作品，不是以商业利益挂帅，（大师曾说过：“这是一部将要流传后世的作品，不要考虑钱的问题”），更能从中看到他横溢的才华与灵气：有形式感特强的《雄性》和《跳跃》，有嬉笑怒骂皆成文章的《展览馆之画》和《按钮》，有意味深长的寓言《人鱼》《一滴水》和《创世纪》，有表现早期电影的轻俏的《破烂影片》，有表现武士道题材的《村正》，有极具幽默感的《自画像》，也有杰作雏形的《森林传说》......天才的横溢令人拍案叫绝。不特此也，这些虽曰实验动画，大师却以一丝不苟的态度创作，其中仍看得出处处体现出大师标榜的漫画六大特性：讽刺性，娱乐性，思想性，美术性，叙事性，抒情性
