A poetic treatment which includes the artist painting on glass while facing the camera, shot at Picasso's home in Vallauris, accompanied by some fairly moody organ music in this very dark, but captivating film. The artist here takes on the character of an eminence-grise, an alchemist engulfed in the "sol y sombra" of his laboratory-studio, filmed in gorgeous black and white.

Double agent Picasso Trigger is assassinated in Paris by double-crossing bad guy Miguel Ortiz. Then Ortiz begins eliminating agents of The Agency who were involved in his brother's death. The Agency (belatedly) springs into action to stop Ortiz' heinous activities. The usual gunplay, romance, and nifty toys with bombs ensue.

Filming started by Serge Bourguignon circa 1967; shelved after completion (if completed); circa 1971 partly reshot by Robert Sallin. Serge Bourguignon, the auteur of the 1962 Academy Award winner Sundays and Cybele, doesn't quite come up to the standard set by that earlier film in Picasso Summer. Based on a Ray Bradbury story, the film concerns vacationing couple Albert Finney and Yvette Mimieux. Enchanted by the works of Pablo Picasso, Finney and Mimieux trek through the length and breadth of Europe to meet the great artist himself. Their odyssey concludes on a melancholy note, but not before an engaging animated sequences wherein Picasso's paintings come to life, as it were. Filmed in 1969, Picasso Summer was long withheld from release; in fact, most filmgoers didn't get to see it until it began making the TV rounds.
