查理和本去了一家酒吧，然后决定去一家高档餐厅。现在他们喝醉了，和一个法国花花公子和他的女朋友发生了冲突。大头侍者猛烈地把本赶了出去，后来又把查理赶了出去。两人又去了一家酒吧，然后去了他们的酒店。他们对一个漂亮的年轻女子住在大厅对面的房间里产生了兴趣，但是当查理从钥匙孔窥探到她时，一个行李员让他停了下来。查理大吃一惊地意识到那个年轻女人的丈夫是餐厅的领班。他立刻退房，搬到另一家旅馆。与此同时，领班和他的妻子对服务不满意，也决定搬到另一家旅馆——不幸的是，选择了查理选择的同一家旅馆，又一次在他对面的房间里。当那个年轻女人的狗跑进查理的房间时，她穿着睡衣跟在后面。她丈夫回来后发现妻子和查理显然处于妥协的境地。
