歪研会创始人方晔顿在求学期间，他见证了首届“ 一带一路”全球峰会的召开和 燕京学堂、 苏世民书院的诞生，经历了中国移动互联网创业的热潮，还结识了来自 以色列的学弟高佑思，他们想做一档讲述在华外国人积极融入中国的节目 。2017年1月，《歪果仁研究协会》推出系列短视频，视频中的外国人像中国人一样思考和娱乐，深度而积极地参与到中国文化生活的讨论之中 。年轻的中国和年轻的中国人，是方晔顿和团队街访的焦点。“歪研会”最开始聚焦于中国各类新兴APP，比如采访外国人使用微信红包、用手机点外卖、网购的体验，后来慢慢延伸至影视、综艺、中外对比等各个领域 。“歪研会”有一档视频节目叫《别见外》，是外国年轻人体验中国不同的职业，非常受海外年轻人欢迎，它就是通过无数个忙碌的背影，反映中国的民族精神和民族智慧 。
