It is more memorable than Julien Duvivier's earlier silent version of 1925, also named Poil de Carotte.The part of Poil de Carotte was played by 11 year old Robert Lynen, who was alleged to have been discovered whilst walking down the Champs-Elysées in Paris. Lynen is totally captivating and the film made him an instant star, launching what looked like becoming a very promising film career – until he was shot dead whilst fighting against the Germans in 1944.  Harry Baur, a legendary stage and film actor (who also died during World War II, allegedly at the hands of the Gestapo), also turns in a typically fine performance.  The reconciliation between father and son at the end of the film provides its most enduring image, enough to melt the heart of all but the most stoical of spectators.

故事讲述的是女主角美熙与盲人崇光相知相恋的故事美熙是一名理发师，因为性格温顺得到附近阿姨们的一致喜爱，并不断的像美熙介绍男朋友。在接触几个相亲对象之后，美熙只会觉得毫无兴趣。就在美熙准备关店休息的时候，崇光出现。美熙对这个盲人充满了好奇，甚至在家也会偷偷关上灯去体验一把盲人的世界。在与崇光不断的了解下，美熙逐渐喜欢上充满爱心与希望的崇光。但是父母却因为崇光的身体原因，禁止二人交往。深受打击的崇光离开美熙的身边。在美熙的妹妹美美的提醒下，崇光逐渐恢复起信心。在美熙的追求者阿呆与顾峰的帮助下，崇光用自己的真诚打动美熙的父母，跟美熙重新在一起。而妹妹美美，在找到自己的那一半。
