After committing a horrible massacre in a village, killing twelve people, the killer shoots himself in the head but unexpectedly survives. Petar, a State Intelligence Agency operative, is attempting to get to the bottom of the case, investigating why the killer said the world "katabaza" before shooting himself – just as Petar's late son had done before committing suicide. Nataša, a psychologist, is assisting Petar with the case but, unlike him, she rationalises everything and does not believe there is anything mysterious at play. Tihon, a monk, warns Nataša that her daughter, Ida, is in danger and that demonic forces that possess human souls are behind everything. After attending a black wedding ritual in the village where the massacre took place, Petar increasingly starts to believe in the involvement of supernatural forces.

Black Wedding is a pitch-dark comedy on marriage. Not a single word is spoken, but murder is ubiquitous. It's the uproarious story of a husband and wife that artfully tries to kill each other - again and again, for 76 minutes, without speaking a single word. It's the way it is sometimes in a marriage. But the crafty couple pursue their devious plans without their daughter, who has sinister intentions all her own. And so one dramatic event chases the other - hilariously, surprisingly, and shockingly.

The exact numbers are unclear, but it is believed that the Khmer Rouge's regime of terror (1975-1979) caused the death of at least 1.7 million Cambodians - almost one-third of the country's population. In the remote place where 48-year-old Sochan Pen now grows rice, there was once a killing field. Sochan's husband raped and beat her before the then 16-year-old girl managed to escape, but not without carrying a deep-seated trauma along with her. After years of silence, she decides to file a complaint with the Khmer Rouge tribunal, in hopes that the regime will be formally found guilty of the suffering that has overshadowed her life. Her emotional quest is underlined by faded, black-and-white archive material that bears witness to a period in which the entire world neglected to do something about a regime that was trying to destroy its own people.

Dark Spell is a story about the girl named Zhenya who suffers from being in love with her husband that has left her, so she decides to bring him back. Desperate heroine casts a spell called "Black Wedding", which is a magical ritual known for its great power and irreversibility. After the ritual, her beloved husband comes back, although his love becomes more like an obsession: he is even ready to kill Zhenya, so as not to give her to anyone. When the maddened husband dies, the spell does not stop: because even death will not part those who were betrothed by the demon of black wedding.
