The Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) serves the world as a center for research and postdoctoral studies and as a focal point for the dissemination of new mathematics and its applications. Over 2,000 leading mathematical scientists from around the world visit MSRI each year. In addition to its research activities, MSRI hosts programs that inform the public and strengthen mathematical education from junior high through graduate school. Support for MSRI comes from government agencies such as the National Science Foundation, the National Security Agency and the Department of Energy; corporations and leading universities; private foundations; and the donations of private individuals.

1937年冬天，淞沪之战落幕，上海沦陷。为了帮助几个我党游击队员炸毁日军的军火船，运出被扣押的医药物资，会计师徐天被裹入了一场突如其来的厮杀。共产党人前仆后继的精神感染了徐天。原本只想过普通人平凡生活的他，想要尝试着帮助这些革命者完成未完的心愿，将这批医药物资和一本记载党员名单的红色小册子转交到党组织手中。从此，徐天开始了与日本军官影佐、总华捕老料、黑社会金爷等几方势力的几番较量，一次次险象环生。虽然环境艰难，但徐天并未放弃，想到那些勇敢牺牲的共产党员，就给了孤军奋战的徐天战斗的勇气。在党组织的帮助下，最后徐天打败了影佐，成功将医药物资和红色小册子交给党组织。同时，在行动中提高了自己的觉悟，最终光荣地成为了一名中国共产党员，成就了一段浪漫的红色传奇。
