Documental que analiza la figura del escritor de culto chileno Roberto Bolaño. Pese a ser una de las figuras más influyentes de la literatura hispanoamericana de los últimos tiempos, su vida no fue la de un escritor de éxito. Este trabajo dirigido por José Luis López-Linares indaga en la realidad del chileno a través de entrevistas a sus allegados. Bolaño pasó sus últimos años en España, donde llevó una vida de austeridad cercana a la pobreza. A diferencia de los escritores del 'boom' literario de la novela sudamericana de los años 60 y 70, que se convirtieron en estrellas mediáticas, la vida de Bolaño se acerca más a la de los grandes escritores malditos de comienzos del siglo XX que a la que se puede asociar con un escritor de culto y reconocido. Este documental analiza su papel como escritor, pero también como personaje extraño que crea su propia leyenda; desvela lo que hay de cierto y de mentira en su propia autobiografía.

As they await the arrival of their new dates, Robert et Robert become fast friends. Of the three favorite film subjects of writer/director Claude Lelouch--romance, crime, and politics--Robert et Robert falls firmly into the first category.
