When a ghost girl with no legs spots a pair of disembodied tap shoes dancing to Moses Supposes from Singin' in the Rain, she joins in, gleefully providing a body to accompany their fancy footwork.

The story begins when a wave of violence hits London following the discovery of the bizarrely mutilated body of a man in the Thames. First appearances suggest a witchcraft killing. Assigned to the case is young, hopeful DS Dan Twentyman and his senior partner DI Moses Jones, seconded from Scotland Yard due to cultural links with the local community.

In 1963 a cow goes missing from an Irish Magdalene Asylum only to reappear 25 years later at a gas station in Texas. The attendant calls the sheriff, the sheriff calls the doctor, and together the three discover a strange mystery in the middle of an American nowhere.

Harvey and Zoey, two tourists in Israel, discover an ancient scroll about Herschel, the man who was almost Moses. Herschel receives the command from God to free his people from slavery, but Moses keeps getting all the credit.

The film is about Moses Coady, who was called many things in his lifetime, but who proved to be the most effective social reformer Canada has known. He went into the villages, organized the people into study groups, helped them set up credit unions and co-operatives, and freed them from the semi-feudal conditions they lived in. Today, people from all over the world come to study his methods at the Coady International Institute in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. (NFB)
