在冰天雪地的冬之国，老国王有三个女儿，他们和冬之国的臣民幸福的生活在一起。在南方，有个四季如春的夏之国，夏之国有个新继位的国王瓦里门，瓦里门坚持不娶女巫，于是女巫诅咒他当七年的北极熊，只有午夜才会变回人形。变成北极熊的瓦里门来到了冬之国，找到了爱他的小公主，和小公主一同回到了夏之国。在夏之国，小公主先后生了两胎，三个孩子，为了保护这些孩子，瓦里门的妈妈隐身了，并且也在暗中抱走了孩子，带着孩子隐身生活。小公主并不知情，伤心至极，回到了冬之国。在冬之国，小公主的姐姐送给了小公主蜡烛，让她看瓦里门的长相。七年的诅咒就剩三个月就要解除了。小公主还是没有忍住看到了瓦里门的长相。瓦里门于是被女巫抓走，跟女巫结婚。小公主前去女巫的城堡救丈夫。在女巫的城堡里，小公主大闹婚礼现场，骗恶魔喝下了她胡乱配的药水。女巫消失了。瓦里门和小公主又在一起了，他们带着三个女儿和王太后回到了美丽的冬之国看父亲，从此幸福的生活在一起。
