The story of a happy people on an island paradise begins with a description of life and cultural events in the communities. There are glimpses of fishing and local foods being prepared, and the building of a guest house (fale tele) is shown with the resulting housewarming festivities climaxed by an evening fia fia, or happy time, including ritual dances.

In the rural outskirts of Gaza City a small community of farmers, the Samouni extended family, is about to celebrate a wedding. It's going to be the first celebration since the latest war. Amal, Fuad, their brothers and cousins have lost their parents, their houses and their olive trees. The neighborhood where they live is being rebuilt. As they replant trees and plow fields, they face their most difficult task: piecing together their own memory. Through these young survivors' recollections, Samouni Road conveys a deep, multifaceted portrait of a family before, during and after the tragic event that changed its life forever.

In “Samoyed Boy,” a Nenetz (Eskimo) boy exposes the tricks of the shaman (tribal medicine an/magician) who members of the tribe believe can cure them by putting nimal spirits into their bodies. Humiliated, the shaman drives the boy from the village. He is rescued by a Soviet ship and taken to Leningrad where he studies at special University for Northern Peoples -- beneath the portraits of Marx and Lenin. Sean (O'Dowd) is the imaginary friend of 10-year-old Martin Moone, the youngest child of a family living in a small town in Ireland. Martin has a unique perspective on life aided by an imaginary friend. His imagination comes into play both in his childish drawings, which come alive through animation, and in the ridiculous schemes he comes up with, against Sean's better judgement. With Sean's help, Martin negotiates life as the youngest in a chaotic, scatter-brained family.

To celebrate their twentieth wedding anniversary Debra and Liam decide to have a quiet weekend in the country. Unfortunately they run into the loud Sharon Morgan, an early girlfriend of Liam's who is now a successful businesswoman in London. Not only does she keep on telling anecdotes about her lovely life but annoys Debra and embarrasses Liam with her flirting. Martin and Padraic spend the weekend in Dublin with Uncle Danny, a former musician who now sells encyclopaedias. However he has lost his touch and his confidence so the boys step into the breach as champion salesmen of the Encyclopaedia Irelandia.
