SYNOPSIS 　　Yoon-mi and Min-wook, who married for two years, run a ranch together. The happiness is cut short when Ji-hoon, a cowherd, accidentally runs over Ji-hoon causing him sexually disabled. The tragedy destroys the couple and lands Ji-hoon in jail. After his release, Ji-hoon tries to make it up to the couple by working for them to compensate them for his mistakes but the harder he tries, Min-wook becomes more abusive. When Min-wook sees Ji-hoon and Yoon-mi work together, he becomes mentally unstable. He mistakes another couple to be his wife and Ji-hoon and shoots them with a rifle hurting them seriously. Min-wook is institutionalized and Ji-hoon and Yoon-mi realize that familial contentment and fulfillment of basic desires are two very different things. The adventures of an inattentive man. He's at his kitchen table, reading. A woman brings his hat and points to the clock. He continues reading and pours coffee into his hat. He leaves, still reading, trips over a servant who's on her hands and knees cleaning the walk. He walks through jump-roping girls, runs into a mule, walks into the only other person on an empty street, and then walks into the path of a steamroller. Two cyclists approach his flattened body. Out come their air pumps, and soon our genial hero has set off again, nose in his book.

Elderly Monica Laughton greets the milkman, and tells him that another relative of hers has passed away. The milkman then stops at a cafeteria, where he discusses Miss Laughton's wealth and eccentricity with the man at the counter. The conversation is overheard by Frank Bramwell, who then plans to visit Miss Laughton with his wife, so that they can rob her. When they reach her home, they are shown into an empty parlor, where she introduces them to a number of imaginary relatives, and shows them an open, empty coffin. Fearing that she is insane, Lorna Bramwell wants to leave, but Frank sees the situation as an even better opportunity than he'd hoped for - and he is not above using force to get what he wants.
