The documentary analyzes the Cabaret phenomenon from its Parisian origins to the present time directly from the accounts of its protagonists. A historical/artistic excursus that will show us how Cabaret has a cyclical and episodic pattern. To do this, the documentary analyzes the very concept of laughter of which the comedian represents but a part. We will show the great difference that passes between laughter used as a tool and laughter used as a purpose, highlighting the differences between Cabaret and Variety, that is, between those who make people laugh to tell and those who tell to make people laugh.

On the film's 40th anniversary, the cast and crew of Cabaret look back at the creation of this cinematic landmark, winner of 8 Academy Awards and the crowning achievement of its director, Bob Fosse. Documentary Short narrated by Neil Patrick Harris.
