杰里米•西尔曼（Jeremy Silman）1954年出生于美国德克萨斯州，1988年成为国际象棋国际大师，曾夺得美国公开赛冠军，并曾经担任美国国家青年国际象棋队的教练。2001年，西尔曼还担任了《哈利波特与魔法石》中的国际象棋对战设计。 曾分别担任北京大学学生国际象棋协会副会长和团支书的羽阳、林诗敏、王思雨与张乃卿等4位译者均来自北大学生国象社团。该社团成立25年来，始终积极弘扬国象文化，促进国际交流，推动创建北大国象队和国象课程，在校内外推广国象运动；在社团指导教师李晓鹏的长期带领下，北大国际象棋综合发展体系已居全球大学领先地位，曾获世界棋王卡尔森盛赞。
