作者：（美国）亨利·欧内斯特·西格里斯特（Henry Ernest Sigerist） 译者：秦传安 亨利·欧内斯特·西格里斯特（1891～1957），当代最重要的医学史家之一，是把社会史的方法和路径引入医学史研究的开拓者。西格里斯特出生于巴黎的一个瑞士人家庭，1917年在苏黎世大学获医学博士学位，在瑞士军队中从事过一段时期的医学服务之后，便投身于医学史的研究，先后执教于苏黎世大学和莱比锡大学。1931年，西格里斯特移居美国，作为医学史客座教授加盟约翰·霍普金斯大学，次年接任韦尔奇教授，执掌这一领域的重镇、约翰·霍普金斯大学医学史研究所，直至1947年退休。主要著作有：《人与医学》、《文明与疾病》、《伟大的医生》以及未完成的8卷本巨著《医学史》。

弗雷德里克·F·卡特赖特曾担任伦敦国王学院医学院医学史系主任。他是多本医学史著作的作者。迈克尔·D·比迪斯是雷丁大学历史学教授，在相关领域有多本著作出版。
