The film is a story of the ways in which insurance investigator Roland Copping interferes in and manipulates the lives of others with outrageous games and gimmicks. Eventually he becomes involved in an escalating vendetta with a couple who make an unusual insurance claim.

Bert and Sam have been living in Spain for the last few years, Sam in the rolling hills and Bert in the slightly less idyllic setting of a prison cell. After a decade behind bars, a cancer diagnosis allows Bert to walk free on compassionate discharge. With only a few weeks to live, she resolves to take on a multi-million-pound art heist that will test her mettle, and prove her worth. Sam reluctantly lets Bert back into her life, and quickly finds herself returning to the life of crime she's tried to leave behind.

Sam, played by Jodie Whittaker (Time, One Night, Doctor Who, Broadchurch) has been content to live a life of quiet anonymity in the hills of Southern Spain, whilst her grifting partner, Bert, played by Suranne Jones (Maryland, Vigil, Gentleman Jack, Doctor Foster, Scott & Bailey) has spent the last decade in a Spanish prison cell with a burning desire to pull off one final job that will prove her worth.

Both were top class frauds.
