An animated adaptation of Daijiro Morohoshi's masterpiece, which shocked the 70's Japanese sci-fi manga world with its rich ancient history pedantry and the charm of its elaborately constructed worldview. The production of the main animation is Asiado of "Chibi Maruko-chan". The director is Tomomi Mochizuki of "Dirty Pair FLASH2". A young boy, Takeshi, is guided by a mysterious old man, Takeuchi, from Nagano to ancient Izumo. Takeshi gets lost in a dark world while visiting famous places related to ancient mythology. So Brahman, the will of the universe, began to tell Takeshi a startling fact.

Akira Kiyota (Ryusuke Nakamura), an ordinary salesman with poor performance and heavy consumer-loan debt, feels crushed by the harshness of reality—far from his wild days as a former biker gang leader. One night, while entertaining clients at a club, Kiyota loses his temper and punches a customer. The club happens to be protected by his high school classmate Kenji Hosokawa (Sho Ikushima). Kenji knocks out the rampaging Kiyota with an ashtray. When Kiyota wakes up, he finds himself in Kenji’s office. Kenji invites him into his yakuza group, telling him this might be his one chance to turn his life around…

After participating to a previous show where they have to bet or be challenged to any kind of competitions, the losing members of the Gaki no Tsukai are selected to spend 24 hours in a setting which they have no knowledge of the theme nor the course of the events. They are exposed to various absurd and crazy situations nonstop for 24 hours and must refrain from laughing. If they do so, hang-men appear and hit the rule breakers with a weapon (the weapon varies every year).

Kiyota Akira (Ryusuke Nakamura) and his former classmate Kenji Hosokawa (Sho Ikushima) begin making money using boat-race betting tricks. Kiyota eventually becomes favored by Yamazaki (Taketarino Yamaguchi) and surpasses Kenji’s results, causing resentment to build within Kenji. Ignoring Kiyota’s warnings, Kenji breaks the strict rules of their boat-race scheme in an attempt to earn big on his own—marking the beginning of his downfall.
