菲利普・托赫冬（Philippe Torreton)，1965年出生于法国鲁昂，母亲是小学教师，父亲是加油站服务员。1990年进入法兰西喜剧院，一直活跃于戏剧和电影界，颇有成就。曾获1997年恺撒电影节最佳男演员奖。除《外婆，外婆》外，还著有《仿佛那就是我》《戏剧爱好者 的小辞典》。

1899年，杜威对“杜威学校”的“家长及其他有兴趣的人士”做了三场讲座。讲座的主题是，需要从社会范围内更大的变化的视角看“新教育”，从以教师为中心的教育转向以儿童为中心的教育。这一讲座空前成功，讲稿《学校与社会》在一年内再版数次，成为教育领域畅销不衰的经典著作。

《孩子与学校》作者着眼于“小小”的孩子，讲述“小小”的故事，强调教育包含教导和培育两个侧面，其中培育和成长尤为重要，主张家长不要过度教导孩子，只要默默的守护，耐心的等待，孩子就会自然成长。
