When the beautiful dentist's daughter Brigitte wants to get married, her widowed father Dr. Robert Stegemann hears alarm bells ringing. The future husband, the father is certain, will destroy the harmonious father-daughter relationship. Besides, he surely has nothing but bad intentions! To save what can be saved, Stegemann tries everything to discredit his future son-in-law. However, he does not succeed, as Robert, the name of his daughter's beloved, behaves in an exemplary manner and withstands the jealous attacks of his father-in-law, who fears for his only daughter.

The single Christine Arnold, who works with great success as a commercial lawyer in a Cologne law firm, is on her way to her old friend Judith, who is going through a very difficult phase of her life: recently she has parted company with her longtime friend Felix. They have a son, Marco, who is very attached to his loving father. Whenever possible, the boy spends time with his dad. However, Judith would like to see that Marco also develops a friendly relationship with her new life partner Georg.

十岁的恩斯特想跟父亲阿尔方斯骑自行车出去玩，可母亲非要一家人一同前往赛费茨格林庆祝金婚。最终母亲松了口，允许父子俩骑车去，但条件是要保证准时到达。于是阿尔方斯和恩斯特从梅克伦堡出发，一路骑车前往厄尔士山脉。这趟旅程困难重重，充满冒险，因为阿尔方斯只要见到需要帮助的人就会停下来帮忙——他甚至还救了一个穿着婚纱、挂在树上的跳伞新娘。约定的时间越来越近，可父子俩距离赛费茨格林还很远。不过后来他们也得到了他人的帮助，最后竟乘坐飞机降落在了宴会桌旁。
