Based on a real event - the shooting of a group of working-class children on 20 April 1930 in Radotín. Thirteen-year-old Boženka‘s mother works as a laundress, and Boženka and her two younger siblings are not living on a bed of roses.

At the age of twenty-eight, Karel Havlíček Borovský is at the height of his fame and political influence. He owns the largest Czech newspaper, is widely known, admired by all, and financially secure. He has a beautiful young wife, Julie, and his future seems to be firmly in his hands. Slowly, however, a hostile, anonymous gray machinery of the state apparatus begins to take effect around him. Its embodiment is Havlíček's close friend Wagner, who is one of his admirers, but at the same time, he is also a secret police officer, a loyal representative of state power. The main characters start their dream jobs and their lives finally take the right direction. Or is it not quite the walk in the park they imagined? Eva is the only woman to get a job at the best advertising agency in the country, but she has no idea that she will be working under a sexist boss. Vítek, on the other hand, has finally decided to open his own hypnotherapy practice after many years, but he encounters misunderstanding from those around him, who have no idea what to expect from hypnotherapy. Everything changes when Eva receives an advertising assignment with a single goal: to make the client fall in love with her.
