Fighting for a Generation: 20 Years of the UFC is an oral and visual documentary on the two decade rise of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Over 60 interviews were conducted over a 4 month period to let the viewer truly understand how the UFC has become what it is today. From the early days, dealing with political pressure and financial hardships to successfully building a worldwide brand, the UFC has gone through struggles that no other sports franchise has faced only to come out on the winning end. With the 20 year anniversary of UFC 1 occurring in November 2013, the UFC wanted to celebrate in a way that would give the fans an inside look at the meteoric rise of one of the top sports franchises in the world.

某机械厂党委把培养一批新徒工的任务，交给参加过“二七”和“五卅”罢工的老工人刘廷栋及其徒弟赵正昌等人。来自农村的新徒工李铁柱，和小商人出身的新徒工夏泉产生了矛盾。夏为了吓唬李，故意将李使用的卡钳拿走，从而引起了一场风波。后在刘廷栋的耐心教育下，夏将卡钳还给了李。赵正昌用那把卡钳的历史启发了他们的阶级觉悟。徒工学习期满后，李、夏等走上工作岗位，临别前，赵把那把卡钳送给了李。

某机械工厂为来年国庆投入生产，正在扩建厂房。他们既要制造工作母机，又要制造农业机器，支援农业生产。厂党委把两年内培养500名技工的任务交给参加过“二七”大罢工和“五卅”运动的老管家刘廷栋和他的徒弟赵正昌、温连生等。新徒工来自社会各个方面，每个人的生活习惯、思想作风千差万别，在集体生活中，彼此间常发生矛盾。
