2023年11月，K买了新的三脚架，借了朋友的iPhone到大学校园里拍摄。本来只是想提前测试一下手机的拍摄性能，为之后一部用手机拍摄的短片做准备。但在拍摄过程中，因为拍到了一些有趣的东西，K逐渐萌生了用这些测试影像剪成一部电影的想法。 　　2024年9月，为了一个没能实现的更大的计划，K又一次开始拍摄这个校园。
