The X Factor is a British television music competition to find new singing talent. The ninth series began airing on ITV on 18 August 2012. Before the start of the auditions process it was confirmed that Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contostavlos would return to the judging panel. Nicole Scherzinger was confirmed as the fourth permanent judge after Geri Halliwell, Leona Lewis, Rita Ora, Melanie Brown, Anastacia and Scherzinger herself stood in as guest judges for the vacant position left by Kelly Rowland. Dermot O'Leary will return as host on ITV, whilst Caroline Flack and Olly Murs will return to host The Xtra Factor on ITV2, but Murs will only be present for the live shows due to his tour commitments.

The ninth season of American Idol will premiere on January 12, 2010 on Fox.Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi will all return as judges, and Ellen DeGeneres will permanently replace Paula Abdul as the fourth judge.Idol Gives Back will also return this season and will be held on April 21, 2010 during the top 7 results show.The top 24 semi-finals format used in seasons 4-7 will also return this season.

Sixteen ambitious entrepreneurs start their fight for a life-changing investment of £250,000 as the battle to become Lord Sugar's next business partner begins. 　　Summoned to the boardroom at midnight, Lord Sugar warns the candidates that clichés won't cut it, and spells out what he is looking for. Then it is onto the task, which is as supersized as their egos. Each team is given a shipping container stuffed with imported products, and the candidates must work through the night to sell the lot. It is boys versus girls, but Lord Sugar has a surprise in store for the sixteen hopefuls as they are put on the spot like never before. 　　Sent straight to the port in the dead of night, the candidates get to see their stock. From Lucky Cats to two tonnes of water, it is a mixed bag, and they only have until 4pm to shift it all.
