中国首部4K超高清户外纪录片《垂直之路》。拍摄历时两个月，辗转美国西部四州，奔袭千里 。一部梦想与坚持的真实记录打不打挂片，是运动攀登和传统攀登的重要分水岭，也是美国第一条高难度攀岩线路的名称：To Bolt Or Not To Be(5.14ａ).本片追随中国攀岩运动员魏广广的足迹，来到美国运动攀登的源头,挑战这条经典线路，并体验攀岩者的垂直世界。

在一次登山运动中，彼得的父亲为了让他成功获救，毅然选择割断绳索，坠崖身亡。由于内心的痛苦阴影，彼得（克里斯·奥唐纳饰）放弃了登山事业，并由此与同是登山运动员的妹妹不欢而散。妹妹在有一次挑战喜马拉雅山脉西麓高耸入云的K2峰时遇险，全队困在高峰上的岩洞里。由于食物与药物的紧缺，他们的生命岌岌可危。为了营救妹妹，彼得不惜生命危险，再次登上喜马拉雅山，展开与时间的竞赛和对自然极限的挑战。

喜玛拉雅山脉西麓高耸入云的K2峰是仅次于珠穆朗玛峰的世界第二高山峰，早在1892年就有欧洲登山队尝试攀登，不过直到1954年才由一支意大利探险队顺利登顶，实现了征服K2的愿望。彼得本是一名登山好手，父亲在一次登山事故中意外丧生，彼得下定决心放弃登山，而妹妹安妮却不愿就此放弃，兄妹两人因此不欢而散。安妮自行组织了一支探险队向K2峰发起冲击，不料遇上突变气候，探险队被困峭壁之上，进退维谷。为了营救安妮，彼得不得不披挂上阵，再度挑战K2极限。
