The story of the Korean War is told through powerful color imagery, dramatic musical score and sound-scape. In the first episode, the summer of 1950 sees the people of Korea trapped in the vice-like grip of the beginnings of the Cold War, as the two new superpowers of the postwar world flex their muscles--the United States and the Soviet Union. In part 2 while the diplomats wrangle and the negotiators argue, the fighting in the blighted Korean countryside continues. Towns and villages lay in ruins, the hillsides and valleys are scarred by bomb craters, as negotiators attempt to handle the sensitive issue of the repatriation of prisoners of war.

本片针对历史上流传广泛甚至“众多周知”的典故分析解读，通过情景再现、纪实拍摄、科学实验以及三维动画等手段，立体再现典故里的科学原理，还原它们背后真实的历史。 　　《典故里的科学》 第1集 草船能借到十万支箭吗 　　本集主要内容： 草船借箭是中国人家喻户晓而且津津乐道的历史典故：诸葛亮仅用三天时间，便向曹操借到了十万支箭，成功完成了周瑜所提出的要求。摄制组辗转北京、内蒙古与湖北三地，通过寻访专家，探索故事发源地，依照历史典籍进行复古实验的方法，和历史较真儿的同时，也实地感受古人的智慧与中华文明的悠久。 　　《典故里的科学》 第2集 谁能做到百步穿杨 　　本集主要内容： 春秋战国时期的“神箭手”养由基被奉为“百步穿杨”的鼻祖，但是他当年百步射箭的距离不是我们现在说的100步，而是184.8米。通过实验发现，利用传统弓箭进行“百步穿杨”理论上可行，但实地测试时因人而异。 　　《典故里的科学》 第3集 一骑红尘妃子笑 皇家快递 七日送到 　　本集主要内容： 从古至今，吃荔枝吃到极致的非杨贵妃莫属。为了吃到一口地道新鲜的荔枝，皇帝命人专门修了一条横跨千里的荔枝道。专人专道、快马加鞭、日夜不休地运送荔枝，以满足美人的口腹之欲。张洋实地探察当年荔枝道的险峻环境，并对古今名马做了细致对比，通过查阅古籍，用古人发明的保鲜方式进行了封存荔枝的实验，一场和时间赛跑的实验，差一个环节都会功亏一篑。 　　《典故里的科学》 第4集 司马光砸缸是真的吗 　　本集主要内容： “司马光砸缸”在中国大家都非常了解。在慌乱而紧急的情况下，需要迅速砸破水缸对于一个7岁的小孩而言，其成功的可能令人存疑。回到千年之前的宋朝，本期节目从“器物、技术、物理”三个角度对司马光砸缸的故事进行了探究与还原。 　　《典故里的科学》 第5集 凿壁和囊萤的光真的能看书吗 　　本集主要内容： 大多数孩子都有一个“公敌”叫：“别人家的孩子”。典故里《凿壁偷光》《囊萤夜读》的主角匡衡和车胤便是古代的“别人家的孩子”，他们是一代代有志学子学习的榜样。让我们跟随张洋的步伐，一起去探究凿壁偷来的光和囊萤得到的光，是否真的能照亮书上的字。
