北洋舰队周将军是一个自命有维新思想的“实验家”，他每月都举办一次“平等茶花会”，这个时候将军和家人与男女仆人的身份互换，他们来服侍家中的仆人。一天，周将军突发奇想，他和三个女儿﹑博士杨味足﹑艺术大师牛自然﹑仆人马龙﹑丫鬟阿梅一起乘游艇到大小洋上遨游，不料遇到飓风，他们漂到了一个荒岛。在岛上，马龙的优势得到了充分发挥，大家在他的指挥下，日子过得井井有条，马龙得到了四个女性的爱慕，大小姐丽华经过锻炼脱胎换骨，她与马龙相爱了。但不久，他们被人所救重新回到了都市里，大家仍然拥有各自的身分地位，马龙最终离开了将军府，丽华也勇敢地随他而去。
